Strong presence of SAFERS during ‘Fire Ecology Across Boundaries’ last week

From 4th to 7th October 2022, the ‘Fire Ecology Across Boundaries: Connecting Sciences and Management’ conference took place in a hybrid format in Florence (Italy) and online. The conference was organised by the Association for Fire Ecology (AFE), Pau costa Foundation (PCF), Region of Tuscany and the University of Florence. Several topics were covered including "The roles of fire ecology for the ecosystem", " New fire generations in Europe and beyond" and "Managing with fire vs prescribing fire for ecological purposes". The event gathered diverse actors of the wildfire management such as scientists, policymakers, wildfire and landscape managers, communicators and other representatives from national, regional and local organisations.

SAFERS project was presented in more than one session during roundtable discussions, dedicated and oral presentations as well as posters session. This fruitful event was an opportunity to exchange best practices and form new collaborations between projects and initiatives which are working on improving the emergency management of forest fires.
