The second field demonstration took place in Piedmont (Italie) on february 9th, 2023. The event was hosted by the Coordinamento Regionale del Volontariato di Protezione Civile del Piemonte onlus (AIB) at the Regione Piemonte facilities. The organisation was realised by CSI-Piedmont.
The demo was devoted to the training of local stakeholders in using and testing the functionalities of the SAFERS services in a controlled but realistic environment with data and information from well-known events of the recent past and already available to local stakeholders. The event involved technical entities, first responders, local authorities and citizens. In addition, the demo was joined by local media who reported about the workshop, namely nuovistrumenti, ATnews and Settimanale L'ANCORA.
The main objective of this demo is to assess the capabilities of the tested services to improve the management of wildfire risk across all the phases of the emergency management cycle (i.e., prevention & preparedness, detection & response, adaptation & restoration), including the engagement with citizens. The demonstration performed in Italy hosted an initial training session and used ad-hoc end-user feedback collection tools and activities for evaluating the effectiveness and the usability of the SAFERS Intelligent Services (Sub-seasonal weather forecasts, chatbot, Semantic reasoning for Decision Support, ...).
This event is the second out of the four demos of the Project (the first has been performed in Corsica, France, in October 2022, the other two will be executed in Spain and Greece in the late 2023).
